Charlotte, North Carolina is the home of National Gypsum Company.  It was founded in 1925 in Buffalo, New York, and manufacture its Gold Bond® brand of gypsum boards.

It has a chemically treated core and water resistant papers to better withstand the damaging effects of moisture.  Excellent base for ceramic tile and other non-absorbent finish materials in areas where moisture is present such as showers and water closets.

Fireguard

It has a type X core that is reinforced with noncombustible fibers which allows it to remain intact longer under high heat conditions.  In specific tested assemblies, fire ratings of up to 2 hours can be achieved.

Manufactured with a regular or water resistant/chemically treated core encased in water resistant paper.  It adds structural strength and helps impede the passage of wind, moisture and sound.

3/8" Lightweight for use in the double-wall systems over wood framing,  and for the repair and remodeling.
1/2" For single layer application in residential construction and single or multi-layer construction for fire tested assemblies(Fire Shield C).  Also used for roofing substrate.
5/8" (Fire Shield C only)For single or multi-layer drywall construction.  The greater thickness provides increased resistance to fire and reduced sound transmission.
Features and Benefits
  • Lightweight, cost-efficient material that readily accepts a wide range of decorative finishes.
  • Gypsum Wallboard id easily-cut for quick installation, permitting painting or other decoration and the installation of metal or wood trim almost immediately.
  • The gypsum core will not support combustion or transmit temperatures greatly in excess of 212°F (100°C) until completely calcined, a slow process.
  • Expansion and contraction under normal atmospheric changes is negligible.
